Lost Hit?
He was introduced as “Neil Young”, dressing the part of a 1970′s looking version of Mr. Young. He started singing a dead-on balls accurate imitation of Neil Young. He was singing the Willow Smith (10-year old daughter of actors Will Smith and Jada Pinkett-Smith) single “Whip My Hair”, which topped out at #11 on the Billboard chart earlier this Fall on the US charts.
“Whip My Hair” is a bouncy, hip-hoppy, harmless tune about facing adversity by just having fun and dancing. But Fallon sings it as if Neil Young were delivering an earnest, important 70′s protest message that must be heard. As I said.. hilarious!
The kicker comes in toward the end. Bruce Springsteen, dressed as the 1970′s version of himself, comes out with his famous Fender Esquire guitar to join “Neil” on the chorus and to wrap up the song. Check it out!
